Impaq is the country's largest home-education provider, and the one to understand first because it is not a school. Optimi Home sells the CAPS-aligned material — books, lesson plans, assessments and teacher guidance — and the parent runs the schooling around it, at whatever pace suits the child. There is a separate Impaq Online School for families who would rather have live classes and a fixed timetable. Both cover Grade R to 12, with 16 elective subjects in the senior grades.
