Movies under the stars on big lawns, and a lovely summer evening out with the family. Bring a picnic or buy from the food trucks, arrive when the doors open to get a good spot, and pack warm layers for when the sun goes down. Weekday screenings are at Kirstenbosch. Some Fridays are at Century City's Central Park or Battery Park at the V&A, and Saturdays move around wine farms in the Winelands. Look out for the family special shows, like a Halloween screening of Coco on 30 October. You can't bring your own chairs or backrests, but they rent them on site.
Under-4s are free and children from 4 need a ticket. You get a free standard ticket in the month of your birthday. Pensioner tickets are R99 on Wednesdays and student tickets R99 on Thursdays. Backrests and blankets can also be rented on arrival for R25 and R15. Special screenings — Halloween, Christmas, Valentine's, Easter — run R175 to R350.
