Rondevlei Nature Reserve

A free wetland outing with flat paths, bird hides, a small museum and a chance to look for Cape Town's only resident hippo population, although sightings are never guaranteed. The 2026/27 City tariff confirms free entry for adults and children. Take binoculars, keep voices low at the hides and allow an easy hour or two rather than expecting a zoo-style animal encounter.
