Surf lifesaving for children — beach and sea safety, swimming and board work, run over the two summer school terms from mid-October to April. Starfish is a first introduction for ages 5–6 and MicroNippers adds basic swimming, board work and first aid for ages 6–8; from there children move through U9/10, U11/12 and U13/14. A child's age group is set by their age on 1 October. Being able to swim is the only prerequisite, except for Starfish and MicroNippers.
Parents stay on the beach and supervise — the club is clear it is not a drop-and-go. A coloured skull cap is compulsory and issued at the session: no cap, no training.
